Riding it around the block is out for now. [:@]Damn ice is still on the roads next to all the snow.
It seems to be running OK for now while sitting, no problems noticible when blipping the throttle... Looks like I'll be calling the dealer in the morning to talk to someone to be sure. In the meantime, Ill leave it all open.
I am starting to wonder if I can stop all the confusion and just roll the bike under hte window where my desktop is at and just run the program from there. Might make my life easier as it HASa serial port.

That might be a good idea so at least then you can eliminate any problem with your SERT or software or ECM which I'm sure is OK. I was getting ready to haul one of my 3 older computers out to my garage when a buddy of mine gave me an older Sony laptop he had that was hardly ever used which has a serial port. I also thought since my bike was only about 25' away I could also run a serial cable to my garage from one of my newer computers in my computer room so that I wouldn't have to drag all the crap needed out to the garage and that actually would have worked pretty good, but I'm glad I got the older laptop since it makes it easier to have it right in the garage since I'm still making changes to my map trying to get rid of some slight decel popping that I still haveever since I loaded a new map. I'm almost ready to just live with what's leftof the decel popping since it's a lot better then when I firstran it afterthe map change. Good luck.
Well because I am mostly stubborn, I brought home the 25 pin to 9 pin adapter to try that out hoping for something. Well, I forget that 25 pin ports are LPT ports, and the program is lookig for COM ports. No joy.
*shrugs* So, I will be moving the bike to the "service window" of my house this weekend when I don't have to rush it before the temp drops into the low teens after the sun goes down. (I don't have the luxury of a garage, I store them in the enclosed bike trailer and do what work I can in there during the colder/snowier months)
I'll let you guys know how it goes. In the meantime, I may be looking for another laptop...

Whoops, I forgot to mention that the 25 pin to 9 pin adapter you were talking about wasn't going to work. You may be able to find someone who has an older laptop for sale real cheap which will then have a serial port. Good luck.
Good luck - I usually hit the "get ecm info" choice a few times until it reads every time. Make sure you're loading a correct map. Make sure kill switch is off (not in kill mode). Other than that, agree, probably the USB adapter. I've been in the PC Service industry since the first PC's - have built MANY serial cables. Would not worry about connecting a couple together and 50-60 feet should work fine. Can't you move your desktop closer?
