Default WIRING PROBLEMS

I just bought a 02 heritage that was a repo from a real idiot. The guy had not a clue on how to do any wiring mods or repairs. The biggest mod he made was putting ape hangers on. He took the stock handle bar wiring and cut it to extend it. He used crimp connectors not ment for being in the eliments and had them all bunched together right at the bottom of the handle bars in plain view. I have fixed all of that but while I was tearing into it I found a YELLOW wire coming out of the back of the headlight and just ends. It's not connected to anything and there is no visable placce for it to connect.

In the wiring diagram in the book it looks like it is supposed to connect to a switch labled "Passing Lamp Switch". Where is this switch?

Some Heritages with light bars had a toggle switch on the backside of the fork tins to power 'em. Might be what you're describing.

Thatn yellow wire normally goes to the passing lamps and cuts the lamps when high beam is on...do you have high beam?

Yes it's integrated in the handlebar switch assembly.

My new Deluxe has the switch Skip is referring to. If your sitting on the bike its on the left side, mounted
in the back of the fork tins. It turns the passing lamps off when lights are on dim and they automatically
turn off when on bright, which makes NO SENSE to me! Only thing I can figure on that is maybe too much
current drain on the battery when main light is on bright?

Thanks for the input guys. Got all the parts today and the kit came with a new switch and directions for hooking up the wiring. Now my question is: I bought the light bar to mount the passing lights and front turn signals on. The light I understand the Turn signals though have 2 wires (both black) The wiring harnass has 3 wires for each side (a blue, a black and a purple) Whats the deal? Which goes where?
