CE Regulator OK??
The C445-02 regulator on my '02 FLHT showed 1.5 VDC to ground from either pin & the stator checked good electrically (23-24 VAC to ground at idle/50 VAC at 2K RPM, no ground continuity, & .2 ohm across the connectors). But my primary had a bit of a smell & upon inspection the stator had hard welded looking spots between a couple windings, so I sent both to Cycle Electric for warranty. They said the stator tests ok, but had been grossly overheated & are replacing it, but that the regulator tests ok & are sending it back to me. Now I commend CE for going above & beyond in replacing my 'ok' stator, & I'm sure that their testing techniques are way more thorough & accurate than mine, but I thought that any voltage to ground indicates a bad regulator & I'm also wondering what (other than a bad regulator) would cause the stator to get so hot. Anybody got any ideas?
