Default SE Super Tuner Data Log

Can someone explain the process on how to use this function to adjust VE/Timing/Bias, etc. What items to log and how to adjust from what is logged. Thanks

Tony, Have you read the "Manual" that comes with the SEST software (gets installed when you install SEST software)? I think it has some info on basic tuning on a "closed course". The first thing I would do is read that info. Then I would read the info about how to record. Then I would try just recording something and viewing the data just to get a feel for what I am doing. After that I would make one run while recording and go view that data. Some things I would be intersted in knowing are: Engine Temp, Knock Retard info, and M.A.P. info; just to name a few. I think you can shift the R.O.I. for the O2 sensors via the bias table, but I don't think I would go there without a exhaust gas analyzer of some type nor would I make changes to the V.E. tables without it. I would look at changing AFR and Timing tables for the individual cylinders by the way my data looks, my spark plugs look, and the bike acts. I believe this is kind of backwards from way a "Tuner" would tune it on a dyno, but then he has the proper equipment to see if he is making the correct changes to things such as the V.E. tables. I believe a "Tuner" would set the V.E. tables first; then once the V.E. tables are set properly, the A.F.R. tables are set to where you want the A.F.R. for a given load at a given R.P.M. The O2 sensors only come into play at certain R.P.M.'s, loads, and throttle positions. When you make a change, only make one change at a time and save your file. Then if your change did not work as planned you can undo it by reflashing with previous file or changing data back and saving as a new file. I would suggest keeping very good notes on each change.

Go to this link http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/Pro_tuning.htm

It has a lot of good info on where you might set certain tables. Hope this helps and good luck. Later, Calvin.
