I have a bike that won't start. It ran before I stored it for the winter. Now I have taken off the outer fairing to get the radio fixed. I've replaced the radio and I was going to start up the bike but there is no power. The security light comes on for 5 seconds, goes off for 5 and comes back on and stays on. My headlights come on but my signal lights don't. The battery appears to be fully charged. I don't have the key fob or a security code for the alarm. Help.
No fob or security code? That little red key light works like the check engine light. It tells you the TSSM detected a fault. If you activate the turn signals does the indicator lights blind and if so are they blinking more rapidly than normal? If so then it's indicating a bulb is burned out. A burnt out bulb, a broken wire, a disconnected connector, same differance, the turn signals aren't drawing power. Check the connectors, make sure all grounds were reconnected then start inspecting the wiring from the turn signals.
I do have the outer fairing/headlight removed right now and the tour-pak. With these connections disconnected cause my problem?( I have these parts @ the body shop)
I'm not sure what exactly that involves so I couldn't say. Assuming you have an lcd odometer hold down the trip odometer switch while turning on the ignition and keep holding it for 5s. That will run through the "WOW" test, sweeping the needles and lighting up all the indicator lights on the speedometer face. Once that finishs it leaves you in diagnostic mode which you can exit by turning off the ignition.
If instead of turning off the switch to exit the diagnostic mode you press the trip reset switch the odometer will display PSSPTb if you use your imagination on an eight segment display. If you press the odometer it will change which letters are flashing, i.e. P-S-SP-T-b. P is the ECM, S is the TSSM, SP is the speedometer, T is the Tach and b is the ABS if you have it. Hold the trip reset switch for 5s while one of those is flashing and it will show the dtc code stored for that module or none or no rsp. No rsp means that module isn't responding or not relevant, i.e. you don't have abs. None means there's no codes. If it displays a code then hitting the trip reset switch will display the next one until it shows end. Holding the trip reset switch for 5s will clear the codes for that module. Once it's displaying end, none or no rsp pressing the trip reset button will return you to the PSSPTb display. Turning off the ignition will exit the diagnostic mode.
