I am not a E3 plug believer, my friend put them in his snowmobile and the tip broke off the plug and broke the rings, but I suppose that could happen to any plug but I have not heard of it.
At the bottom of their page it says:
Little known fact:
2005 and later Harley-Davidson EFI systems incorporate an "Anti-knock" feature that operates by reading the current resistance through the spark plugs.
The use of any other spark plug other than 'Stock' (6R12) disables the anti-knock feature. Harley-Davidson brand Spark Plugs
Harley-Davidson Spark plugs are manufactured by 'Champion Spark Plugs'. H-D has a contract through Champion for the optimum heat range for H-D street motors, this heat range is only available on H-D plugs and is not sold in stores. Many other brands of spark plugs will work in your Harley, some of them will work very well, but I don't believe any of them will measure up to stock H-D plugs.
I am ready to replace plugs and was going to try something besides HD when I saw that. Now I wonder....
Using different wires will disable the anti- knock also!
i purchased a set of ngk's one lasted about 400 feet thinking it was a faulty plug i went back to parts store for a replacement he gave me a new pack of 2 plugs.i installed them got through a half tank of fuel when that set crapped out.i borrowed a set of old stock bosch replacement plugs from a buddies 2001 glide and went to harley purchased a new stock set and have had no problems since.the only other plug ill use now is bosch as they were meant for air cooled engines and dont seem to
have issues.ill try SE platinums next
i have never heard of plugs or wires dissabling any engine function or sensor.imo that is bunk unless you show me in writing with a harley letter head..
To keep your knock sensing system working use HD / Champion plugs and stock or SE wires.
The resistance total for plug and wire needs to be 26k ohms for the knock sensing system to work properly. These plugs are usually 20k and wires 6k ohms - most other plugs are 6k and this is where the problem arises. Go here to better understand and filter BS from fact.
