Default Advice needed.....

Hi my good people!

Ok, so I want to add a Hypercharger, just cuz they look so frickin cool IMO. I have an 06 Softail, 88 cube stock mill. My bike has the full race download from HD, stage 1, and Vance and Hines short shot pipes. I was told two different things. One by my local H-D dealer, and another by a private guy. H-D shop told me I wouldn't have to do anything but add the Hypercharger because of the race download. On the other hand, the private guy told me I needed to add a Power Commander, or a SERT. I tend to lean towards the private guy, cuz I know the guy is good at what he does.

Advice or kind words of wisdom needed.
Thanks!

What AC did you have before the hypercharger?

It's the cotton HD air filter. The back of the stock assembly was replaced by this filter and a different base. It's all open behind the chrome cover. I've been told this was the "stage 1" kit.

I agree with your HD source, if you had a Hi-Flow AC on when the stage 1 was performed, assuming they recalibrated the VE's, you probably don't need to do anything more. The difference between the stage 1 kit AC and the Hypercharger isn't enough to warrant a retune IMO.

HD's download are designed for HD's stage I air filter. If you go to one that is more free flowing than the HD one, your bike will be running leaner than it is. Obviously with me being a tuner, I always recommend fuel management and a tune. At the bare minimum, I would have bike ran on the dyno and have some air fuel checks done if you decide to try to run the download. But if you are considering the SERT I say go for it.
