Ignition Switch
I have a 73 year old friend who rides a 1989 FLHS. The igniton switch locked up on him at Myrtle Beach bike week and some people drilled and hammered the insides out of the thing so that he could start the bike and ride it for the second half of the week. Myrtle Beach H-D was as helpful as they could be, but couldn't get a part in before we left for home.
The part # is 71549-82A. My friend called our local service place to see about ordering one and was told that it's a two piece unit that will set him back almost $500. Any good places online to look for a used one or discount new one? I checked with Zanotti's website and the search didn't turn one up. I wasn't surprised because Myrtle Beach H-D told my friend that they hadn't stocked one for about 3 years.

you might try Chicago Harley Davidson on the web they have it for about $190.00 >>I run a 1989 FLHT & thought I needed this exact part #71549-82
try Chicago Harley Davidson on the web I just found this part # 71549-82A just last week for about $ 190.00 plus shipping>>I run a 1989 FLHT and was gonna buy this part but didnt need it after all by the way you are gonna need to make a 0.320 spacer to adjust the bolt on the fork lock mechanism when you put the new ignition switch back in or you will lose your fork lock ability thats why this switch is so expensive good luck with the job at hand
