Default Recall

At a local Rally this past weekend and met a fellow Street Glide owner who informed me of an ignition recall. Anyone know specifically what it is? They advised it had something to do with starting of the bike before the efi went through its test.

In the interest of customer satisfaction[sm=icon_rofl.gif],Harley-Davidson is offering a free replacement ignition switch on all FL Touring model bikes produced before Feb.15th 2006.The replacement ignition switch will feature reduced complexity of operation, and will reduce damage potentially caused by operator misuse. (They are saying their cutomers are idiots I guess)

While this is not a safety issue we do urge you to contact your authorized H-D dealer, blah blah blah blah blah.

That's right off of the letter I received.

Just had it done, ignition switch has never been smoother and much easier to lock the steering. If it concerns your bike you would have a letter by now.

Talked to the dealer to get mine scheduled. He said that the main problem is that you could lock it and it may not unlock. They had a couple to replace before the recall.

Get it done. A friend of mine had his lock in Cody wy and we ended up having to break it and ride to Billings with a screwdriver sticking out for over 175 miles. It can be a pain if it fails.

I have the opposite problem, my fork lock won’t. It does sometimes, but most of the time I turn the bars to the left and I feel it catch but when I turn it to the right it won’t stayed locked. [:@] I am taking the bike in for service so I will have them check it...again.
