I'm having issues with Smartlink IV and am out of ideas. Hopefully someone has run into this before. I've been using Smartlink IV for almost two years on the same laptop, no issues until today. I clicked on the icon and Smartlink opened and gave me this message..."Failed to Create Empty Document". This is without even being connected to my bike. I've deleted the program and the Thunderheart folder. Reloaded from the zipped file, same thing. I even went back to version 1.9 and no luck. When I plugged it into my bike it read the module settings but just when it started to read the offsets it gave me the same error message. Anybody got an idea what's causing this ?
You likely have a corrupt file, or registry entry. Delete Smartlink from Add and remove programs. Do a file search for Smartlink, thunderheart and delete all references to them. Go into registy and do a find for the same. Delete all registry (key) referrences for Smartlink. This will when done correctly will remove all traces of the program and orphan files. You now have a clean slate to start from new install. Most computer cleaners fail to do the job and the manual approach is a sure cure. If doing any of this scares the chit out of you , pm me and I'll step by step it for ya.

I tried the delete tmp files suggestion....no good.
Deleted Smartlink and all traces of it, backed up my registry and deleted all entries related to Thunderheart. That did the trick. Thanks guys. This EFI gets more interesting everyday
Glad it worked for you. This method comes in handy for other programs that become unruly as well in MS operating systems. Don't know why it happens but as long as you know the cure, not a big deal. Just be thankfull we don't have to use Win98 for Smartlink
