The last time I rode a motorcycle in a house was many years ago, (obviously after drinking). From experiance, I can tell you a new laptop is alot cheaper.[:@]

Live life!! Take the bike in the house & let us know the experience. Otherwise check power down your PC & reconnect in your garage

Really guys..The unit only has to be poered up when you download the map. That is what the 9 Volt is for. I t doesn't lose the map as you unhook the PC from the USB. then install and you are fine.

can you download the map from the disk to the power commander if the unit is not connected to the bike, using the 9v battery. then take the unit outside and hook it up to the bike programmed???

Yes, The USB cord goes from the computer to the Power commander. You hook up the 9 volt that powers up the power commander. Hit the download key on the screen. It tranfers the mapfrom your computer to the power commander. You unplug cords and take it outside and install. The map remains intact.

we guys i think i did it!! i powered it up with a fresh 9v. uploaded the correct map from the disk and sent it to the unit. it took a minute or two, but it seemed to go good. i then unplugged the unit and replugged it in. the program read the current map the unit had saved and it was mine. now i just have to wait for my se stage 1 and i can put the pipes on and put PC and SE air cleaner on. i should be all set.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP IT WAS GREATLY NEEDED!

Wanted to throw something else out there that I heard today from a local HD wrench.....he is telling me to take the bike into HD and get a "Harley Download" to it first, then do the power commander with the proper map. The reason for this, he states, is that it "opens things up a bit and resets some of the range settings in the computer and that way when you load the new map on top it has a wider range of settings to work with".....

Is this guy just way off in the weeds or does he know what he is talking about?

Side note: I ordered (not from HD) my pcIII today, pipes, and the ness sucker...should be here early next week. The guy on the phone said that all I had to do was load the stock ecm first then load the map for my setup....

There is also another function available for download from the Power Commander website. It is called Accelerator Pump. It gives a boost of power when you crack the throttle. [sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=burnout.gif]
