I have a new (to me) 07 Ultra Classic. Last week I put a new set of brake and clutch levers on it.
Now the bike won't start in gear with the clutch lever fully engaged. (I know I should start the bike in neutral.) I imagine there is a safety interlock that got jacked up on reassembly.
Where do I find it?
More detail:
In order to install the clutch lever, I had to completely loosen my clutch cable and partially disassemble the switch housing on the left hand side.
It should not have been that difficult but their just wasn't enough slack in the clutch lever to get the old lever off.
You might have an older set, or the tab is not lined up with the clutch interlock button....
Lastly, do you have the lever "Condoms", you know, those lever wraps? They have been known to interfere with the lever coming all the way back to properly engage the interlock button also...
After posting the original thread I found the problem. The hand levers I installed (HD OEM) aren't built such that they actuated the interlock. There is a ridge on the stock clutch lever that activates the interlock. The chrome HD lever I bought doesn't have this ridge.
