Default 96" Upgrades

Hello,

Well after much internal delimma I am going to wait on the 103 St2 Kit. Here in Canada, I was quoted an installed price of $4100. That Included the 103 ST2, credit for aircleaner [I have the Heavy Breather], SEST, and 5 hours Dyno time.

So what I'm thinkin, is buy the SEST from Surdyke or Zanotti's and install it myself. Thoughts? Would use the base d/l's and then run the autotune.

Secondly, is there a website HD has for the SEST? I mean it would make sense, but I can't find it. I want to see what computer specs are required. I want a mac powerbook for my next computer, and am planning on running windows on it, so if this will work or not??

I guess I was lining up to do the 103 ST2 and not the SEST, but then I got discouraged at the price. I went on a great ride through the western states at the end of september, ad the 96 with the st 1 was pretty good. Just like a little more for hills and under load. As well I only have the one bike, so a little stoplight acceleration is fun too.

It's a passion, not a necessity, so it doesn't have to make sense...

Thanks
Harry

If you are going to tune it yourself I would check out the TTS tuner. Not only is the TTS more capable than the SEST, the "Vtune" of the TTS is safer than the "smart tune" of the SEST (IMHO). Tuning your bike will make it run smoother and cooler. For a little more power you should at least change cams. The advantage with a competent dyno tune is 100 % throttle can be set and it's way easier to set timing tables. For a stock bike the downloaded calibration with either tuner should get you close.

Default Cams and TTS

Well after talking to the Duncan Indie dealer, I guess she's going under the knife for implants...

Going to go TTS with some Woods Cams. He said about $2000 as well as reaming out the cat. I saw some photos online through my stumblings, and ya, it is like a sponge or spray in foam insulation in there.

I thought about removing the muffler and reaming it out myself, but without a 'tune' I'd be nervous about leaning up the bike.

Once I give this a go for a while, I'll go the 103 [or Axtel 107 or something]

Oh, this will trip the warranty.

Screw it, Lets ride.

(Damn marketing.)

Dean will get it right. With the TTS no one can tell the bike has been remapped. If your bike is an '10 you can't remove the cat because of sensor placement.

Thanks Lonewolf,

Had a good talk with Dean yesterday. We discussed the finer points of 'kits' and how they are the shi#s. Ha Ha.

Point is, we both figured to start with the TTS and some Woods cams. He figures with proper tuning, I'll be better off than an out of the box 103 st 2. Pricing ~ $2 - $2.5. My bike is an '09, and he said the $1000 wasn't worth is for the 2-1. So reamer on the cat...

Now if I'm excited, I might throw on Axtell Cylinders [107 or 117] since it'll be in...

But the nice thing is going slow will allow me to feel the progression right? See what the efficency increases do, then go cylinders, then maybe port polish. I get sick of the immediate response of "there is no replacement for displacement." They all barf that out, and stick to it...

Now where is that Christmas bonus...
