Anyone have experience with this closed loop system? Hey Shovelhead Bob have you seen any bikes with this unit installed? Is it the way to go over a PC?
I've had one on my 03 SERK for about 2000 miles now and the bike runs better than ever. Plus my mileage improved quite a bit. My wife and I rode about 70 miles tonight, mostly lower speeds-45-60mph and averaged 48 on that little ride. And that's two up with a 103" with an SE air cleaner and True Duals.
I think I'll put one on the wife's Deluxe when her warranty runs out, just to know it's running right and getting better mileage. My 103 always gets better mileage than her 88 Deluxe.
Plus with the TV unit you don't need to do any dyno tuning. Just put it on yourself and go. For best results call them to make sure you're putting the o2 bung in the best spot in the pipes.
It pulls really well through all rpm's but I don't know how much could be attributed to the TV unit as I also changed to S&S570 cams and a .030 head gasket at the same time, so I got quite a bit of improvement from that also. It just seems to run very, very well now, and I'm a cruiser, not a racer. I will say that it seems to pull much smoother through all rpms than it did before.
Give them a call at Terry Components, they're very nice to work with and there is actually a nice lady that answers the phone, rather than a machine.
I'm not a racer either (Harley rider ) but would like more power for passing when riding 2-up, smoother running and better gas mileage would be nice....what else could I ask for.
I installed a TVII on my 2000 RK this spring, and have about 2000 miles on it as well. 45 to 50 mpg on the highwway, 35 to 40 around town, all with a 95" overbore, Andrews tw50 cams, V&H pro pipe. Iremoved a PCII to install it, and the difference in throttle response and hot or cold starting is flat out great.
The best part for me is knowing whatever I decide to change or modify (gear driven cams in the near future, finances willing, and modified heads on down the road), I don't have to worry about factoring in the expense of a dyno run and tuning session.
I would think any aftermarket items- pipes,PCIII, DFO,etc - would void your warranty. It probably depends on your dealer and your relationaship with them as to whether they will honor or deny warranty if some problem arises.
The only part of the warranty it could affect would be the parts that the TVII connect to. (i.e. ECM and TPS) All other parts of your warranty will by law (Moss-Magneson Act)remain intact regardless of what the dealer says!!!! Also the dealer HAS TO PROVE that the aftermarket part is what caused the failure!!!!
