Just what kind of gains can one "normally" expect with a good custom SEST tune ? In my example, I have an 09 FLHT with SE intake, V&H slip-ons and stage 1 download.
Maybe a little higher numbers, but more importantly your bike should run smoother and cooler.

Just be careful on how lean it is when you smart tune. Apparently the MOCO is now recommending to add .5 to your ve or afr table when done.

What is your source for this? I would think if this really was a problem a software update would be released to correct it rather than an anecdote flying around the internet.
Smart tune only affects the VE tables based on data collected during runs. It doesn't make any adjustments to the AFR tables although changes in the VE table will affect the calculations.
NOT a "flippant statement" a statement of FACTS based on MY experience with the product, Thank you VERY much!!!
Perhaps I miss-understood, but the flippant thing was your suggestion that my post was FUD a competitor may be spreading around. I was not questioning your experience or skill, just suggesting that there are many factual posts describing different results and you suggesting this is a marketing thing is flippant.
Of course we shouldn't believe everything we read on a forum, and mostly you just hear of problems anyway. Your FUD suggestion is not FACT, only your personal experience.

Hello all,
I have a question pertaining to back firing. I have the SERT and Rush slipons with SE intake. The dealer has told me that the way I'm riding may be the cause of the back firing. Explaination-- I get the back firing through my exhaust not carb and happens mainly when I get back on the throttle after coming down from 4th to 3rd or so and my speed is around 30 to 35 mph. Hope my explaination is coherant.
I thought with the SERT that there are many items to tweek such as decelertion fuel rate? Wouldn't that be something that may help? Looking for some education.
