Default TTS Master Tune Question

The manual for the Master Tune is a little hard for me to decipher. I have a 2010 Fatboy, stock motor but Screamin Eagle high flow slip ons and breather. I think that has me picking a basic map download (PZ 176-002) to start off with. Can any of you guys with a PHD in Master Tune tell me if that sounds right?

That map was what I started with for my '06 FLHRI. It worked really well for a starting map. If it does not start right or idle for you when you try to start tuning your VE recording sessions then. Just pick another map set the cubic inches, injectors an start again.

As for process, I read, re-read, then re-read, and then re-read and created an outline for me to follow to keep track of which application and process to perform and when. If you have never tuned anything electronic it can seem a bit over whelming. But persistence pays off.

When reading it, you have to not only understand what is being done but I think that it helps to understand why as well. If you have a fair degree of back ground in EFI systems that will help you understand more of what your doing until you get the hang of it and finally start tuning. As opposed to just following the procedure to get it through all the sessions of VE tuning.

If your not to up to snuff on EFI components and its principal operation you may not tune your bike very well even after a sucessful VE tuning sessions have been completed and saved and your running normally again. Then again, if you pick the base start program closest to your build, and go from their you may not find a need to tune after all the VE sessions.

Best of luck.

I don't have a PHD but that looks incorrect to me.

Remember to save the original (takes about 60 seconds) then download the TTS-suggested map (takes another 60 seconds).

Go from there and have a blast!

Thanks for the feedback. The map selection is a little hard to work through. One selection lists A/C and exhaust, but for a touring model. The ones for the shotgun exhaust only seem to list A/C. So do the Screamin Eagle Hi Flow Slip Ons not really make any difference. The Harley parts catalog acts like the exhaust alone will be "power you can feel". I am really confused about this map issue. I thought the touring models for 2010 all had "Cats" in the header pipes. I would think that would make them map different than the Fatboy (which the dealer claims does not have cats. I am doing a lot of reading, but the map thing has me pretty intimidated as to what to start with. I'm leaning toward the AE 176-002 since it's not a touring tune.

I got a copy of Doc's Master Tune "for dummies" which is exactly what I needed. It may not be the latest but it tell me 'do this first, then this, then this, etc. which is really helpful for someone like me who has never tried EFI tuning. If you read this and decide you want a copy, PM me. It's a PDF that can be emailed. Hopefully I can get started now

How did that work out for you? Just got the tuner today. I have the pipes in hand but not installed yet. Air cleaner shipped but will not be here until next week. I will be playing with it this weekend and STILL riding the stock fattie until the AC gets here and I downlaod a new map and start the process.
