Dead battery killed something else....
I accidentally left my key engaged overnight and killed the battery. 
I charged it up the next day. Now when I turn the key, I no longer get that nice little whine sound (fuel pump, I believe). I get a loud almost wheezing sound (only way to describe it). When I hit the start switch, it gives that initial grunt like it's about to turn over but never does. One time I tried it smelled like something got burnt.
Any ideas before I call the dealer? Bear in mind, I'm a total n00b when it comes to working on bikes. It's a 2007 Sportster Custom 1200.

I charged the battery using my trickle charger. I tested the voltage and confirmed it has a full charge, so the battery appears fine. It holds the charge even after a week of sitting out of the bike. I'm worried I'm looking at a very expensive fuel pump fix.

I dont know,but maybe something could happen to the pump if its on for an extended time and not pumping like when the motor is running?Just a guess.
