Ignition Timing
Ok so here's the deal , I just assembled a 100 cu in Revtech motor, and I'm trying to get this running today! Not sure about the whole timing. The gearcase gears seem to go together only one way,as the gears on the pinion shaft are keyed! So the breather and cam timing marks are lined up with pinion gear mark! Now the marks on the flywheel, this Revtech has 3 there's a straight slot type of mark and 1 dot and 2 dot's also!So what mark is actually t.d.c and when doe's t.d.c come into play?Seems I roll the motor over and the gearcase timing marks never line up when the marks on flywheel come up?? could someone explain this and how to set this up correctly!?

Being it is not a stock Harley engine and Harley has had several different ways on there timing marks over the years I can only make a guess but easy to figure out. First I am guessing the 1 dot is TDC front cylinder and the 2 dots TDC rear cylinder. This should be EASY to check but bring it on the dot and check to see if this is so buy putting something in the cylinder like a screw driver and slowly turning the motor over and then backing it up. You should be able to tell if it is on TDC. Then the line is ignition timing mark before TDC on the front cylinder. Now depending on what ignition system you are running on what mark you use for ignition timing.
