Default Need Help Please

I have a 2005 XLC1200 (carburator). rode hoe Tueday with no issues, but when I tried to start up yesterday morning I got nothing. When I turn the ignition on all I get is a little buzz noise from the speedo (shich I always have gotten), but no lights, no oil light, and the starter will not turn over. Ichecked the battery (which is only 2 months old) and it was ok. I've checked all fuses inside the battery coverandthey are ok.

So far I've removedmy tank, battery and checked all fuses, but do not know where to go from here.

Any advise would be appreciated.

A MAJOR issue with Harley's has been loose connection to the battery, and from the battery. Look for any signs of corrosion (rust / white oxidation) on your connections. Even take off the connections and clean and remount them tightly.

That would be both battery terminals and where those cables connected to the ground and hot lead to the solenoid.

This has cured many issues for many Harley owners.

Are you sure it is not the battery? How old is the one you have in there? You could have an issue with cranking amps - if you have a voltometer hold it on the battery while you try and start it and see what the volts drop down to. If it is under 10 you probably have a bad battery.

I would not use locktite on any electrical connections. First off it will act as a shielding. Your battery posts are lead and very soft. If you want to do anything, I would use a star washer or a lock washer, but NOT locktite.

Electrical (dielectric) grease for electrical connections would be your best way of assuring a good corrosion free connections. Once you clean them up apply some grease to all the exposed contact points. Should give you a few years of trouble free service depending on where you live, whether you ride in the rain, and how you store it over winter.

Hope it's back on the road for you right away!
