I have a stock 96" w/ D&D Fatcat and SE heavy Breather. I used the 2009 map from the map definitions and I get a bit of pop and a decent amount of ping on acceleration.
From the Timing vs Engine speed drop down im going to bump up few degrees of timing to smooth the curve out from 0 to about 2400 then bump down the timing from then to about 3800.
Suggestions or any tips (no smartass coments please)?
Mayor is very knowledgable when it comes to T-max. I have adjusted timing and afr's to my bike with pretty good results. I have almost totally eliminated decel popping and have made good progress on wide open throttle pinging issues. I don't have a tach which makes it more of a PITA but still doable. As weather gets warmer here in Maine I'm sure I'll need to make more adjustments. Not perfect but she runs damn good right now. Go on Harley tech talk forum and check out AFR & Tuning Zone. Some good info there. Also, I watched Mayor's timing and fuel adjusting vids several times before making my own adjustments. I even had to watch again while adjusting my own map. (hardening of the brain he he). He is just posting this stuff to help people out ao I would have to say yeah he's legit. Call Zippers and make sure your basemap is the best (closest) one available before you start. They are constantly coming out with new and improved maps. Take your time and I'm sure you will get good results.
You're welcome. Remember if you are just backing off timing at wot in the timing vs engine speed table that you have to go into the individual timing, rpm maps that were affected by your changes and add timing back in the lighter throttle positions. From what I have been reading most of the in the know people are saying to run as much timing as you can without pinging. So be careful not to back it off too much at once. You will need to put masking tape on your throttle and mark out throttle positions (approx degrees) so you know what throttle position and rpm (hopefully you have a tach) you are at when the pinging starts. Baby steps and be patient. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
im also hearing a pop when coming off throttle and a pinging when getting on throttle. ping happens when the rpms are low and i get on throttle hard to wot.
my 2010 fxdc has the SE heavy breather, tmax autotune, and vh big radius 2-1, would need to look up the basemap but it was the closest match to my components.
