'ticking' valve or worse?
had and 88ci 2001 road king classic, stock but with andrews 26g cams. last winter i upgraded to 95ci and had the heads cleaned up, valves guides replaced and 'cleaned'. I used the word 'cleaned' as I dont know what the common wrenchhead term is!
bike ran fine. had a map dropped on the stock ecm to match the new jug size at the dealer a couple weeks ago, still ran ok. my issue up to that time was this stupid TV3 fuel management computer they recommended to me. with it on the bike, at 30mph in 3rd, or 40mph in 4th or 55mph in 5th, if you accelarate from those speeds in those gears it sputters, and very badly, as i see it. but without the TV3 it ran smoother but had less '*****' at low end speed and high end speed, engine speed, i mean. but two days ago, i go to start it, and the battery is drained. i keep trying to jump it and a few times during this, it made some funny noises from the engine area. I call them funny as i never heard it before. the bike never started then. i set it on the trickle charger for deep cycle. after 2 days battery is charged, to to start it, it starts and i have the worse ticking valve sound i ever heard! ok, exaggerating but its still bad and wasnt there before I tried to jump starting the bike. so, do i have a valve issue perhaps? did i skip a tooth on the cam when jump starting it? what else could it be? I hope some pro's read this and can understand what I mean. sorry if I have some terms or phrases wrong but I am not a total gear head,, yet! thanks guys!
