My map that Fuelmoto loaded for me was too rich also on the low end. The mid and upper range was pretty good, but the low end was way too rich.
I think they do that do reduce heat, but it will be at the expense of mileage. I left the mid and upper ranges alone and leaned only take-off and cruise, then added an oil cooler to keep temps in line. I'll know more about how well this theory works as air temps increase in the coming months. For example, it was warmish today (high of 72°) and I noticed some detonation at low RPM's under load, so I decreased ignition advance in that area, which nixed the detonation. As it gets hotter I will probably need to lower it even more, perhaps down to where it was (zero).
It was 35 at best before (meaning light throttle and 65mph), I have been WOT a lot and 80+ (one of our freeways here is like Nascar) and still did 37.
As soon as I run this next tank out, I'll be back to normal riding behavior.
Sounds like your tuner got it right. I live over in the North Bay and am looking for a good tuner. Could you forward the shop name to me? The shop that dyno'ed mine usually works on sport bikes. They are DJ certified, but I wasn't impressed with their work.
Thanks,
