Thank you UltraNutz, I have been reading a lot on tuning and could not find what that meant. I am getting nervous my bike has been in the shop for three weeks getting cams and a dyno tune, every where i read they say our shops can't get them tuned. Trying to get studied up on this in case I have to do some tuning.
who's tuning you bike that it takes 3 weeks to get it done? Damn, not knowing what I'm doing I installed cams in less than 4 hours, the vtuned with TTS for another 8 hours.
A shop in north Iowa, I just talked to them, there computer is broke they have been waiting to get a new one. The cams are in just waiting to get it dynoed. Had a good talk with them and was asking them how they went about dynoing it and I feel a lot better about it, It sounds like they know what they are doing.
1 thing I'd make sure of is they're not simply doing WOT tuning. You want your EGR, TIMING, SPARK, VE, LAMBDA tables all dialed in if you're going to pay for a tune. If he can't do that, go get your bike and find someone who will. Make sure you get a copy of the stock map coming off the bike before he starts, and then get a completed map when done with the dyno.
He said they start with the VE then they move to the AFR and timing. He said it take a long time it could be 6 hours and they do every range for both cylinders. They run it like you are out riding down the road and do the WOT, he sounds like he knows what he is doing. He says you have to take the time to make it perfect.
I hope so, I have been reading so many horor stories is is making me nervous. I guess we will see what happens. Do I need to ask for all the sheets or will they just give them to me.
Thanks for all the help.
to tell you the truth a lot of tuners are like, "here ya go, here's your copy of the dyno sheet, your stock map, and your completed map and I have a copy also if you happen to lose it. If you have any problems let us know" and you're out the door a happy camper
Then you have some tuners who are like " yep I'm done with it, you can pick it up, thanks for troubling me today with your money" and you're out the door wondering what kinda big mistake you just made.
I would ask for it to be safe. Bring a thumbdrive with you when the bike is done so the tuner can put both maps on it for you.
