OK guys i need a little brain help here. I just finished my build and I need a map to start (using a SEST w/ smart tune) but the problem is I cant find a MAP that is even close to my build.
Here is my set up
98cu in
s&s 585 cam
Thunderheader
K&N A/C
No head work yet
I went through the canned maps and didnt find anything remotely close plus I know smart tune builds at a 14.6, my issue is once i tune it at 14.6 how do i richen up the entire tune? (I almost have an engineering degree so im not totally lost if you use big words lol)
Where in Ohio are you located? You need to worry about break-in before you worry about smart tuning. Too lean or rich, that money spent on the 98 kit will be worthless.
I would want to see afr's in closed loop around the 13.5 mark on a new build if it were mine. Bet someone here has something close you can begin with. Did you ask Aaron at Hammer?

yeah i havent got an answer back yet on it. i hope they got a base that would be ideal
I know its a weekend and it doesnt matter yet but FYI if you ever get offered overtime on the day you were going to break down your engine and mail it off DONT TAKE IT! its been three hours on second shiuft and all i can think about it is getting them jugs shipped :/
Can't do closed loop anywhere richer than 14.4ish. Do an open loop tune to break in. Breakin in on a dyno is best bet, because AFRs can be monitored. Call Hammer for break-in map.
wow so i started disassembly yesterday what a PITA.... between my father coming over and poking around like he has a clue and my girlfriend and the baby interrupting every 5 minutes in 6 hours i successfully got the rear jug 80% off LOL intake manifold was a nightmare.... looks like it wont be until next week sunday for the next jug
Yeah, hard to work with a lot of distractions lol. I would hold off pulling the cams until I had the new ones in hand...less parts lying about and it will be fresh in your mind what needs to be done. Best of luck!
