the positve pin is not showing....Let meunderstand this one more time about the battery...a battery drained is not the same as being drawn from? anotherwards my battery tender is showing a full battery all the time but in some situationswhen starting, it sounds like its drained....so current at that moment is being drawn away effecting my overall current needed to start?
Say you have a bad relay, voltage regulator or what ever andits drawing 1 amp all the time. Over the cousre of a week you have lost 170 reserve amps which is a lot for a motorcyclebattery. Aone amp drain is not much, but over time it really adds up.
Do you havea hard time starting only or are otherelectrical fuctions weak. Head light, horn ect.?
if that was the case why did the battery completley charge after 15 minutes with a trickle charger but 15 minutes earlier be just short of clicking....not sure about other things not working but my guess is everything was weak...it sounded like a battery going dead after each try...but 15 minutes and a green tender light later it fired up nice..you would think it would need to charge all night on a trickle just to get it back to starting strength...few things I might add to your earlier question about other things on the bike not working right lately...I have had a problem with the key in the ignition when starting..sometimes completelty dead and headlight not on(speed odom on though)....but turn the key to off and on a few times and bingo headlight on and bike starts, never weak...could be independent of this problem or maybe their tied? someone told me to spray a little wd-40 on the key and that might help the contacts better, which it has...only happened once or twice since but happened alot before that...does this help any? or does it confuse you more? LOL....anyways back to the battery..I believe the battery is not getting drained but rather is being shared with something else at that moment when I'm starting...only to start fine after a small trickle and movement of that wire....checked the connections everything is clean and tight..anyone chime in..thx JR
I agree 100% its not drained....so this is the mystery question...what problem or problems can give you the false effect of a battery being drained?????
Sounds like you need to check the battery voltage instead of going by the light on the tender.
How do you know the correct battery voltage?
Buy a voltmeter.
Um You might want to make sure that everything is tight and cleaned.. If ANY connection is lose it will give you the same indications. Check all the ground connections ie:engine, lights, horn anywhere there is a ground check it and make sure it is tight.. Then do the same with the positive.. Make sure ALL connections are tight..
