Security Light/Dead Battery

Security Light/Dead Battery
The security light on our 2007 Sportster XL1200 Custom which normally flashes, suddenly started staying solid. If we started the bike and turned it off again, it would flash again. But, when we looked at it a little while later, it would be solid again. This morning we woke up to a dead battery. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thank you!

There might be a drain somewhere on the battery, but if it's the original one it's probably shot. If you got 6-7 years out of the stock battery that's pretty good.
Has the battery been on a tender? Check your connections at the terminals and the ground.
Take it out and get it tested. You'll find out if it's any good or not.

Thank you Nevil. We just bought it used in February. It hardly had any miles on it. I'm not sure if the battery is new or not. We haven't had it on a tender. We've been using it regularly. I'll check the connections and then have the battery checked. Thank you for the advice!!
