So, like a kid at Christmas, I got to opening maps last night not long after opening the box. I downloaded the "stock map", 807-145, IIRC, since just the PCIII USB and K&N came last night--still waiting on the pipes.
Here's the thing: there are numbers in the map! I'd think that a "stock bike" map was the "zero map," which would allow the bike to run as The Motor Company intended, but in fact, the "stock map" wasn't.
Can you guys confirm from what you know that, in fact, you can 'tune' a stock bike? I'm guessing it's just spraying more fuel to make up for the ultra-lean emissions tune they provide from the factory,... but it will work out for me because with the K&N, a little extra fuel will certainly help!!!
(On that note, anyone have a "stock bike/ECM/pipes, air filter only" map? Would that just be a map with all 5's or 10's in a diagonal area?)
the map for a stock bike basically tunes it out of the lean condition from the factory.
A zero map doesn't make any changes at all and is sort of in a bypass mode.
i'm not sure what you are asking as far as maps cuz i'm not 100% sure what

Thrillz,
I got 2 of the 3 pieces I ordered, and want to get them on the bike, that's all. I don't have any downloads to the ECM, and no mods to the engine or cams, either. I just wanted to get going and get both the K&N air filter and the PCIIIinstalled so that when the pipes ~do~ get here, I'm a download away from riding (plus 15 mins to throw on pipes).
Thanks, though--I figured even a stock bike was biased towards emissions regulations, rather than power/performance.
