Nine years ago I was new to this section of town and was looking for a garage to inspect my car. I pulled into one and right away the owner came out to me and asked if I needed help. I told him I needed an inspection. Ok, pull it in and we’ll get to it right away. His name was Kevin and he had a helper and two young boys running around. “These are my sons, Josh and Alec,” he said with a huge smile and his hands on their shoulders. He was proud as a peacock as he informed me, “Josh is 14 and Alec is 11.” "By the way,” Kevin asked, “where did you get that license plate?” I had a front license plate that said JESUS on it. I started to witness to him about Jesus and in a few weeks Kevin, his wife Debbie, Josh and Alec had accepted Jesus as their Savior were attending our church.
My first born son was born later that year and over the next several years our bond with Kevin and his family became stronger and stronger. Alec would watch our two boys while we went out to dinner with Kevin and Debbie. We took Alec and his girlfriend to Hershey Park at Kevin and Debbie’s request to be an example of a Christian couple to them.
I can never remember Alec saying a foul or vulgar word. I can’t remember him ever saying negative things about another person. He always had a smile and a firm hand shake for me when he said, "Hello, Mr. Nate!” My kids thought he was the coolest thing since sliced bread and would beg us to have him watch them. Alec was one of the special ones, he always made the people around him feel better about themselves and their situation.
Alec was a sound technician and a Youth Leader at our church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and handgunning. One of his favorite pass times was to fix up his car. He still worked at his dad's garage and at a friend's garage as a body mechanic. Alec was very talented at painting.

[font="times new roman"][size=3]“How did it happen?” I asked her. “He had just left Bentley’s (the local greasy spoon) after having breakfast with his parents and was headed to the church to volunteer when his car veered into the opposite lane and he overcompensated to miss an oncoming car and lost control, I could see the ambulance from my office window,” my wife said through the tears. Jamie, my wife, works at our church as the school secretary. “He was almost here, just a
Nate, you are not alone in your grief. Even God feels the emotion of Alec's death.
I trust the lord will comfort you and Alec's family in the days ahead.
I have laid to rest several young men and women in my life.
It is at these times that we simply have to trust God and thank Him that these young ones had a relationship with Him.
I will be praying for you and his family Nate.

Ken, your response is just what I needed and when I needed it the most. Thanks, Bro.
I'm not sure why Alec's death has impacted me so profoundly but I have taken this brother's death harder than loosing any of my own relatives so far. I think it must be the suddenness of it. The day before he died I saw him in the church filling in nail holes and before I could say anything he said, as usual, "Hi, Mr. Nate!"
I think it is also difficult for some otherreasons. I have two boys just like Kevin and Debbie had and I can very vividly imagine the pain they must be experiencing, although I'm sure not to the depths of their sorrow. Also, it is truely difficult to accept loosing him at this young age with such a promising future. I think it is like reading a book and coming to a period, expecting a comma, and the rest of the pages are blank. It doesn't make sense to the mortal mind.
However, Iknow Godhas a planandI will trust Him. Jer 29:11 says, '"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'
Thanks for letting me share here and again thanks for the words of encouragment.
If you get to Heaven before me look up one Alec Wartluft, put a hug on him and tell himMr.Nate islooking forward to seeing him again, you won't be able to miss him he'll either be right infront of God's Throne worshiping with his hands lifted or he will be one of the greeters at the gateas you come in.
Nate
