The OP hasnt been here in 2 years so dont hold your breath. Its a fresh break and free of any dirt so he did it taking it apart thats for sure.

I don't know what year that is but my '83 doesn't have anything there that would 'hang up' when removing the primary cover. It just seemed curious that a screwdriver-shaped chunk would break off...
