K next question is how do I know what length fork to get. This 2 under and 8 over has me confused. What is the stock length of the forks and where do i take the measurement from, the crown or bottom triple tree. On my ironhead the fork are long a hell. or at least longer than all my buddys. They are 40 center of axle to top of fork, 31 or so from axle to bottom tree. So im confused and would love to know what these would measure I want the same length as these . So tell me whats up with how to measure , please.
The over/under thing was , I thought over "stock length" or under "stock length" what you would need to do is measure your buddys bikes (if they are the same model) and then measure yours, that should tell you what you would need. or take a overall measurment andorder that way. I used to use"forks by frank" if they are still around, he could tell youwhat you need.
I cannot give you the dimension of a standard fork tube length itself, but here is this to work with:
From the center line of the front axle to the top of the fork crown is 30 1/2 inches with standard length tubes. Over or under, you can figure it from there......pg
At least until '71 stock tubes measured 23.75 inches. There was also a stock option that was an inch longer. I don't usually mess with new bikes like yours, but I just happen to have both front ends in the shop--one of my vintage and one of yours--and when I stand them side by side they're the same length.
