I have no experience with these at all, never even seen one. Years ago I saw/read something about them. Never seen a discussion regarding these and IronHead Sportsters.
I believe they have no useful application in these motorcycles.
Compresssion releases come it 2 forms, automatic and manual. Automatic plugs into factory wire harness on bikes designed for it. Manual is just that. Push the top buttons in before starting it. As for Compression Releases on an Ironhead Sportster, NO. Drill and tap a hole in the head for Dual Plug , YES helps with flame travel for better combustion. There is NO BENEFIT for doing this modification. I'm 73 years old and can kick start my 77 XLH with 10.5:1 forged pistons along with the hi lift cam in it. If ya can't start a low compression Ironhead go to the gym and work on them legs
