Default Brake fluid

Is there any special type of brake fluid to be used? my 79 is low and I dont want to cause a wreck like on my old triumps using the wrong brake fluid and ruining all the seals?

Default RE: Brake fluid

It should have DOT 5 in it. If in doubt, flush it out.

Flushing isn't enough, so if you have any doubts you need to CLEAN whole system. Cleaning can be done with isopropyl or some alcohol based fluid, don't use Jack D :-) there is better use for that.
Mixing DOT 5 fluid to any other fluid ( also DOT 5.1) can cause seals to swallow useless.
