Default 1972 Seat Issues

While I'm on here can anyone recommend asoloseat that will actually fit a 72'.I have a Mustang Seat on there that came with the bike , but upon further inspection, I'm a little sick realizing after I rode it home ~~~ the seat isjust hanging on there with something thrown together. Wouldreally like it to fit ~ the right way ~~ Thanks , T

You can see the solo seat I have on my 1971 in my signature photo. It is an aftermarket seat that I got from VTwin for a K Model. It did not fit without a large effort on my part to make it fit. I made the duplicate hardware that was found on the K Models and the very early Sportsters. This has 2 stainless rods that go down into the frame with springs at the bottom.
Unless you undertake the same fabrication, the only other choice of a solo seat that I am aware of has the two small coil springs on each side bolted to the top frame rails..........pg

I use to make a front piece to bolt onto the small solo seats. I would use a piece of flat-bar, bending it to the shape needed to mount the seat. The front of the flatbar would bolt to a hole in the top frame rail. Sometimes I'd use springs at the rear, but usually just let the seat sit on the frame to get it lower.

I have a LePera Silhoutte Solo on mine. They are about 100 bucks.

Cool bolts onto the struts and the frame ~~ I made one of those pieces with steel and drilling holes and such ~~ I think the Lepera is the way to go for me personally ~~ although I like the solo seat thing with the coils ~~and my frame a a place for the coil type seat ~~ Keep it simple stupid is a good way for me ~~ less to go wrong later ~~ Thanks Guys!!
