Default '73 ironhead engine sizes

i've been reading the pages here and i've come to the conclusion there seems to be a problem over here in the uk. i have read here that 900cc engines were no longer fitted after '71 no overlap period. is that right?. if it is then the insurance companies over here have got a bit confused. they insist that the 1000cc engine didn't come in until '74. vin /engine numbers match 3A XXXXX H3 which a had always assumed WAS a '73 sporty with a 1000cc engine. the import document confirms it, you guys confirm it , i've always assumed it and the insurance companies say NO its either a 900 or a hybrid. who is right?.

And if you are still not convinced, here is a copy from the 1970 to 1974 factory service manual.
The insurance companies are just wrong. The last 900cc engine was at the close of 1971. The first 1000cc engine was Jan 01, 1972. There was never an overlap of engines. In 1971 I was there..........pg

If I remember right, the '71 sporty was somewhat of bastard in that it was a 900 with the 1000 wet clutch.....This wasabout the time AMF was taking control of production.
