Finally got a handle on it...
Got it really close & decided on a ride for dinner. We stopped for gasoline & 2 miles later it started running hot & running crappy... limped it home. I suspected bad gas & not only was it that, it was 10% ethanol. I put in 2 gallons of race fuel from my car (110 octane leaded) & yup, woke right up. Sad part is my hands are getting worse & the doc says I gotta stay off the bikes & leave the power tools alone & get ready for wrist surgury so the ironhead has to go... just as it was looking good
