On my 78 it was pushing oil out of the first lifter guide, so I took it apart and it was broken in 3 pieces. What would cause this ? Does any one have a extra they would sell to me.
I don't have any I could sell you, but the only thing I could think of that would cause this would be that the pushrod was just really loose at one point and the lifter turned when it was lifting breaking off pieces of the guide.
This guy here has some for sale on ebay. They look brand new and they are only going for $22 at the moment.
I wasnt around for the end I really didnt want to pay that much since I only need the one. I guess having a spare wouldnt be a bad idea since I really could use a spare now !!! but Oh well.

better replace the tappet also as the roller could be damaged or shot also check the rest there should be little or no play also check the roller bearings as they could be shot also
Sorry i didnt get back to you my local shop had a used one I picked up for 25 bucks and has it turns out the bike had oversize lifters, so I had to buy a new lifter as well which he also had for only 15 bucks. So again thanks for the offer but I am all good and back on the road.
