Default Single or Dual front brakes

I have a 78 and currently am not running a front brake. I have a late model softtail brake on the rear. I have the stock set up for my 78 but I was thinking about just running 1 side. Any thoughts? If i do just run 1 side should it be on the same side as the rear disc or the other side?

Thanks
T-Ron

I'd run the front brake on the same side as the front brake master cylinder. Less line to run and it will help it from pulling to one side when using both brakes.

If you aren't plan to use original brake components, witch are not so effective.
I recommend put rotor (+10" ) and caliber from some sportbike or newer ( 2000 ->) HD parts.
Easiest way is put original components back, if you do so I recommend drilled rotor.

thats a good question dirty78.cool ride btw.i asked about a million people if i could use a newer hd caliper but i guess no one has found a decent way of making it fit.or maybe an old one is just as goodd??? i dunno.i was going to try but found a good deal on old calipers on ebay.ive yet to put them on.i would imagine you would have to do some interesting fabrication if you went with a sportbike caliper.--------might take your bike up to a hd dealership and compare brakes.

mojo----are you sure it will pull to one side?i never really thought about that but it doesnt seem possible.....im just askin...

I haven't seen any (ready made) brackets to IH , you need to made them yourself or have some metal workshop fabricate them.

Check out the new issue of the Horse Backstreet Choppers page 87. Looks like Fab Kevin makes one for a sport bike calpier.
