can someone verify if the lower oil tank hose goes to the front or the rear of oil pump.i have looked in archives only found that is goes to the inlet i beleive....i dont know which one is the inlet...
there is a diagram up in another post that shows my hoses are backward but i am 99% sure i hooked them up exactly like they were.

Did your 79 have an oil filter? Mine does not. Been thinking about putting a full flow filter in the line, but if it has gone this far without one - why bother.
it appears that the leak is at the hose connection right behind the timing area...it had no clamp and it was connected to the top of the oil tank.---i never did go into the pump and will try to avoid that if all is good.i am a little confused about the routing though....there was 2 hoses connected to the pump.from what i read in archives theere is suppose to be a vent line somewhere under the bike.not sure if that was year specific or what.i thought i also read where the rear pump hose comes from tank?
what i have is hose 1. from front of pump going to bottom of tank.hose 2. going from back of oil pump to oil filter.3.vent hose going to connection by timing cover.
i see no vent line underneath.also i noticed a small male connector under the starter that i have no idea what that is for.
The feed line is on the right side, the return is on the left - at least on a 79.
