Default speedo and tach cable location....

Hello everyone,
My experience in the Sporty field is fairly limited...my knowledge in the Ironhead Sporty arena is even less, but last Oct. I was able to purchase a 76 basket from my friend for 140.00. Since then I have been taking my time and trying to rebuild it into a flat track / bobber / cafe -type bike. I have come to realize that an Ironhead can be a love/hate ralationship, but the love side definately outweighs the other. The mistique and bare bones attitude that comes along with this bike really gets me.
Anyway, I have decided to go with a late 60's front end which means, of course, it has a full drum set up in the front and rear at this point. People have told me that's rediculous because it is outdated....my response is that I just don't have the time or patience to build another 25K custom big twin and since starting this project, have come to realize that for about 1500.00 total invested I'll have a bike that not every high-dollar band-wagon-jumper down the block has - this is the real deal.
My real question is......having the front drum brake setup, where in sweet hell does the speedo cable install to? I see a connection on the right side of the engine just east of the tappet assemblies, but cannot find another junction. Is this one for the tach or the speedo? And where is the other? I may run both a tach and a speedo and cannot find any answers under my computer searches.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks in advance..........

thats a tach drive on the engine......in '76 the speedo was driven by the front wheel..... if ya look in catalogs i think they sell a electric speedo set up that will read the speed off the back wheel or drive sprocket...i think it was jihre cycles or jandp that i saw it in.

As Mr. wwaarrppeedd sed, the tach drive is off that plug on the cam cover by the lifters. The speedo drive is behind the sprocket cover.

Good luck with those brakes. They were barely marginal when they were new. [8D]

Thanks for the input.....I know the brakes on these is barley acceptable, but I figured if I was going to do this thing unique, may as well go all out. Take care all.
