Default 75 Ironhead wiring problem

I just purchased a 75 Ironhead, the wiring was done by a true shade tree mechanic. I was wondering if someone could help me out with a simply drawn diagram so I can re-wire the bike. Out with the old in with the new. I am not going to run turn sigs just tail light/brake light headlight and headlight. It also has a tach with one wire I am asuming for a backlight so I can read it at night. Everything else is going to be kept original IE: coils and kickstart. I just need something idiot proof to follow I havent worked on one before. The clymer manual is good but very hard to understand. If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Here ya go. The component labelled "cyl" is the solenoid. There really should be a relay in there for the starter circuit.

Here's another one thrown in for good measure. I drew this for anothe member some time back to show the diagram somewhat simplified.
The heavy orange line is nothing more that a direct way to wire from the battery to the ignition switch, bypassing the terminal on the voltage regulator. Ignore that and leave off the turn signal wiring if you will not have those............ pg

Good catch Straydog! You are correct.
I failed to notice the fuses.
This was a diagram I drew up for another member who wanted to install fuses in place of relays. So I drew it up for him (and advised him not to use fuses) but failed to notice the fuses on the diagram when I posted it. My error.

Relays are what you want to use....... not fuses. Fuses blow and do not come back on. Relays function the same as fuses but will reset, so you don't lose your lights or voltage other than for a millisecond.
Thanks SD............. pg

Hey guys, I have a few questions to tack on here. I am trying to build my first bike. I hope starting with the bike makes sense in the long run... So please excuse any bone-head questions you see from me! It's a 75 Ironhead, and at this stage I am working on the electrical using a factory harness I purchased.

There is a yellow wire that is running to the ignition light switch, but I don't see this on the diagram. What am I missing here?

Also, I don't see how the relays, mentioned above, fit in with the factory harness. Are they covered up or is there something else I need to purchase or splice in here?

And, last for now, when plugging the harness into the handlebar controls how should I splice in the leads to the headlight, front signals, horn, etc... There are matching wires between each control and the harness that connect together using the plastic plugs, but I don't know where to fix the wires coming from the accessories.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I think you meant to say circuit breakers are what he wants to use, no?
