I have a 1983 xls with the fat bob tanks thats all original in good condition and was wondering what it would be worth it has 19,000 miles on it

 

Without seeing it, I'd guess it is a solid 5k bike.

 

Depends on where you are, and if you can find a buyer. Where i am people selling bikes have not yet clued into the way prices have dropped in the last few years. You can get a brand new Sporty for, what, about $8000? And guys are asking that for their 5 and 10 year old bikes.

Most guys do not want an ironhead because of the high maintenance required. Or they might buy one unwittingly. So you have to find a buyer who really wants one, or who thinks it is just another motorcycle.

What it is worth and what it will sell for are not the same. I am certain that mine is worth $5000, but i doubt that any buyer would be willing to pay more than $3500. And i would have to work to find that buyer.
