is there any kind of after market shifter an brake linkage that reverse's the shifter an brake i cant seem to get use to shifting on the right side of the bike. 72 ironhead xlch sportster
I've never seen an aftermarket kit, and when the factory did their hatchet job to move 'em, the shifting was really sloppy compared to previous models. You might get a '75 and later service manual. It will have pics of the cobbed together linkage, and you'll be able to see how it was done.
As much as I liked my 72 sportster xlch that I had, I finally sold it.
One of the reasons I sold it was because while I still had the 72 XLCH but after I bought my 85 FLT when I would ride one then the other I found that sometimes I'd dry down shift when trying to just touch the rear brake and some times I'd hit my rear brake rather than down shift.
I did concider the linkage switch but wasn't very impressed with the workings of the kit. I can't remember who put the kit out, but I think it was HD (??)
Just ride what you have and enjoy it. You'll get used to it unless you have another bike that shifts on the left. Then you'll either get over it or sell it. lol

I agree. My '76 shifter setup is very sloppy. I am considering switching it to right hand shift.
