Default Shocks

On my 76 I want to put the shortest shocks I can get away with. I'm not a big guy 145lbs. The shortest I have found are something like 13.5" center eyelet to center eyelet. I think with my small size I can get something like
11" to work. I have alot of room between the stock shocks and the tire now. Has anyone done anything like this?

Lowering bike isn't always simple, as just shorter shocks. You need to check least, chain line (=oiltank, chainguard) inside of rear fender (=bolts, wires). Shorter shocks means also less travel on suspenssion -> harder/stronger spring. Have you tried to adjust spring preload ?
It might be good idea to check how easy is lower rear fender... but you always need to check those clearence issues.

Cut pieces of wood, drill holes in the ends, to see what problems you might run into. This will give you the compressed shock height.
