Default Shocks

Hi All, I have been offered some brand new lowered air shocks at a real good price, as I am a short *** its something I need, they measure 11 and half inches between the mount holes, will these be too low and cause problems with clearing the rear mudguard (fender). the bike came with lowering brackets when I got it and I want them off but still need to be low to the ground and want my bags to sit in the correct place, and at the price it is cheaper than changing the seat

Wont be much travel. With lowering blocks already installed Id bet you would bottom out and rub constantly. Have your seat redone.

I'm short legged as well. The ride quality difference between 13" and 12" shocks (nominal length) is appreciable. The worse the road, the more appreciable the difference.

If these are stock shocks, you can do some effective tuning improvements with oil. Changing both the viscosity and quantity, though mostly viscoscity.

As far as I know, the generic stroke length of the various short or shortened (Bitchn Bagger for example) shocks do not cause fender problems. Or in the case of baggers, the catching of the wiring running inside the fender. But, if these are just some unknown shock of interesting length, you could well have a stroke length problem. You'd want to identify the shock and check the numbers. A generic unknown shock may well not have enough spring or damping for a heavy bagger type Harley. So caviat emptor!

Hi Guys, They are brand new original shocks that have been shortened by a company in the states (poss bitchin bagger). The plan is to remove the lowering blocks and just use shorter shocks not both. Thanks for your replies

No way to tell you. Put them on, get someone to bounce the bike up and down while you watch and check. Welcome to the world of custom modifications.

Hi Guys, decided to buy them at a great price considering what the cost would be to buy them from Bitchin Baggers and have them shipped here. Just got to find time to fit them now. Will report back when they are on.
