i know this is probably the wrong place but i will ask anyway
came across and old ironhead sporty for trade for my old rat rod.
do u think the trade would be worth it?
the bike is a 1979 sportster. all original and complete with less than 12000 miles
the car is a 1960 chevy wagon. 400small block 4 speed manual. has some rust and needs some work.
i dont know what a 60s chevy wagon looks like.personally i would trade for anything to get rid of a stationwagon.so my opinion would be slightly biased...ok a whole bunch biased....but i will ask this, would you feel better about rebuilding an engine/transmission in your wagon or in "your" 79 sporty? whichever one you would prefer to do is probably the one you should keep or get.
The 1979 has the XLCR frame which is used by 1979, 1980 and 1981. Some parts are unique to these years, notably the seat and fuel tank. 1979 has a unique exhaust but a normal ironhead exhaust can be fitted by changing out the sprocket cover for a 1980/later one [and making a few other changes].
