Those arent points?
SO in the picture below is the last connection I need to remove in order to rewire the bike. This is my first bike and certainly the largest project Ive undertaken. I have a 71 XLCH with after market electric start. I posted before when my slacked primary chain chewed up the case. I am trying to disassemble so that I can bring the case in for repairs. Im trying to make sense of what Im working with as I take it apart. The below does not look like the manual or the other pics I have seen here. What do we got here. Remember, I know nothing, so please give it to me as simple stupid as possible. Thanks in advance for what undoubtedly will be elightening and useful info for me.

Thanks SB, I kinda figured that had to be the case. So what am I going to be facing thats different? Im looking to clear that wire so I plan to take it off. Can somebody tell me what the overall affect is for the disassembly and reassembly versus what I might see in the manuals?
Only difference removing that electronic ignition is that there is 2 or 3 wires versus points ignition one wire. When you put it back timing setup is different.
If the bikes runs pretty good now, you might want to scribe a mark across the ignition plate and over to the inside wall of the points cavity so that you can realign the two marks later when you are doing the reassembly. That way you will be fairly sure that you can get the bike to fire up again when you put it back together again. On many electronic ignition units there is a small L.E.D. that will light up when the unit is in the “Points Open” position so that you will know where you are in location to timing the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) of the piston in the cylinder. The wrapped wires that are shown in the picture go down through the hole in the bottom of the ignition cavity, down and out of the bottom of the cam cover and (usually) over to the frame rail and (again, usually) up the frame rail to the area where the ignition switch wires connect to the wiring harness. Good luck with your project and ride safe!
