HD Carb Question- What the hell is this?

Default HD Carb Question- What the hell is this?
I recently took a peek into my carb and there is this wierd little wall or something that slides up and down from the top and I have no idea what it is, what it does, or why its there...? There is no control u can use to actuate or move it at all unless u stick a screw driver in there and lift it up. Anyone tell me what the hell it is?

Thats the slide in a CV carb. It is controlled by vacuum. There is a diaphragm on top of it that operates it. Thats the needle you see going down through the center of it.

Cool thanks! I figured it had to have something to do with vacuum. Wanted to make sure it wasn't governed or something like that. I cant stand not knowing how things work either...

Put CV carb how it works into Google search and you will learn all about them.
