That is a newer front end on the IronHead Cafe too. Probably 39 mm.

What are clip-ons? I have heard this term before but what exactly does it refer to?

Clip-ons are little bars that are about the size of an individual hand grip more or less. One bar is attached to the left side of the front forks and one bar is attached to the right side of the front forks. The short length of the clip-ons requires that the rider lean forward to reach them and this position helps keep the riders arms tucked in behind the fairing. Rear-set foot controls also help make this aggressive position a bit more comfortable (as much as it can be). The clip-ons were a staple on the early Cafe Racers. My 2006 Buell XB12R Firebolt and my 2009 Buell 1125R both came with the clip-on type bars on them as stock equipment.

Cool pics yall. I kinda like the hand guard idea. At least for as cold as its been lately. Much easier to burn one down on the highway to I bet! Nobody likes a runner!

Thanx for the detailed expl about clip-ons. About what i thought but have no experience with them. Now i know. Anyway, i think just drag bars or similar on the bike.

This looks like the style of fairing that's on Mick's old bike.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Viper...item5639e29a23

They are cheap and look good, but as I said, the headlight hole is 7" and there are other mounting issues on a Sportster. I put one on an old Honda I have and it fit perfectly - it has a 7" headlight that sticks out far enough so the fairing doesn't hit the bars, instruments, controls, etc.

The fairing I have is an old Tracy "Black Rain" fairing (named after a Michael Douglas movie). They are pretty hard to find.

That is correct. I checked with the new owner who redesigned the bike. It is a Viper Cafe Racer fairing. $89.95. The way he mounted it the 5,3/4" headlight looks good thru the 7" opening.

He did not use any of the mounting hardware that came with the fairing. He used a pair of handlebar turnsignal mounts along with a couple of self-designed parts.

Read on another thread that some have mounted these using a plastic tapered flower pot as an adapter to neck down from 7" to 5 3/4". Probably some other items out there that could be used.

Smile fairing

National cycle has a new one out, called the GLADIATOR, I saw it at Americad in Lake George. It dose not go around the headlight, but it is what I'm looking for. The ad is in July issue of American Iron on pg 133. Hope that helps. Ride Safe
