Just to be an uncaring B@STARD, I took my '75 XLH to the track to see the #'s. Who else has times? My best was a 15.49 @ 87 mph. Motor/trans are stock, Still has pionts, S&S super E carb, long drag pipes, 18 tooth trans/52 tooth wheel sprocket, 250 lb man who did not speed shift. Some one 100 lbs. lighter and experienced racing Ironheads could squeeze better times from it.
I've been running low-11s lately on a nice cool day. My bike is a '76 XLCH, 12.5:1 CR, stock bore and stroke, ported heads, 1.75 pipes with Cycle Shack slipons (runs slightly quicker than with the drags), dual plugs, stock ignition (w/ dual coils) and Chevy 6-cyl points, Andrews tranny gears, stock sprockets, S&S Super E carb, Energy One clutch, and I weigh 235 lbs. On warmer days and when the baro pressure is lower, it runs mid-11s. I also run a mix of 100 octane low-lead AVGAS and Sunoco 93 octane. My HP and TQ are in the 90s.
How often do you have to rebuild it? If your build reliable or for racing only?
