There is nothing in the design of the mechanism that would provide for an absolute safeguard against that, so it would never be possible to say it could not or never happen ...
+1, according to what i have read on these forums over the years.

I have installed a kicker on my '78. I spent big $s and got all OEM NOS parts, and had it installed by an expert Sportster mechanic. Even so, i am not planning to use it, i just want to have it for the cool factor.
